Hang an Ornament & Season of Green and Gold

Since October is almost here it is time to start showcasing Christmas/Holiday cards and projects.   Today I am sharing with you a fun card that was created by using a sketch found on page 22 of the 2024-2025 Stampin' Up! catalog.  I am using the new Hang an Ornament Bundle, from the September - December 2024 Mini Catalog, with the online exclusive Season of Green and Gold designer series paper to create an elegant Christmas/Holiday card.

Since there is gold in the patterned paper I decided to break out and use, for the very first time, the gold Wow! Metallic Embossing powder.  Let me tell you, now I know why "Wow!" is in the title of the product.  It is amazing embossing powder.  I don't regret buying it and know I will be using it and the silver alot this season.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler with the green and gold paper cut into 1/2" wide strips.  The ornament was also die cut out of Cherry Cobbler so that it would pop against the green and gold paper.  Check out the dimensions below.

Card Details:

  • Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Layer #1: 1/2" x 3 3/4" strips of coordinating patterned paper - you will need 11 pieces
  • Layer #2: 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" card stock same color as the card base
  • Layer #3: 1" x 2" white card stock
  • Ribbon: approximately 5" - 6" for a bow
  • Ink: Versa Mark and Gold embossing powder
  • Interior: 5 1/4" x 4" Very Vanilla or White & 1/2" x 6" coordinating pattern paper

Here is a close up of the ornament that has been stamped and embossed.  Isn't the detail on the stamp amazing!

If you would like to watch this card being made and learn a tip for how to make sure the strips are laid evenly from top to bottom check out this video.

Garden Meadow Window & Splendid Autumn

For the month of September I was given the opportunity to be a Guest Stamper in my Luv 2 Stamp group and it was awesome!  I will share over the next few weeks some of the cards I made using the Garden Meadow Bundle. Although there will be no videos like many of my other posts there will be supplies and measurements listed just in case you would like to recreate the card.

Today's show and tell is a fun one that uses the window die from the bundle to give the impression of looking out over a creek meandering through autumn trees.

 Card Details & Measurements:

  • Card base: Garden Green 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
  • Layer #1: DSP Splendid Autumn 4" x 5"
  • Layer #2: Garden Green 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" embossed with the Exposed Brick embossing folder then the "window" die was used to cut out the opening.
  • Layer #3: Crushed Curry 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" then the shape was cut out using the banner die from Nested Essentials Dies.
  • Sentiment: Garden Meadows stamp set and Garden Green ink.
  • Interior has a 5 1/4" x 4" panel of Very Vanilla for any handwritten note or additional sentiments.

If you want to make the interior fancy you could add a 1/2" strip of the remaining DSP to the right side or bottom of the Very Vanilla panel.

I hope you enjoyed this card it was inspired by many of the samples I found on Pinterest.  Keep an eye out for other cards I have made with this bundle over the next couple of weeks.

Happy Stamping!

Round We Go & The Four Corner Technique

Have you ever been brainstorming and just not have those creativity juices flowing?  Well that was me last weekend when trying to design a card with the Round We Go stamp set.  I tried my favorite place for inspiration, Pinterest, but all of those ideas used the die set (which I don't have).  So I figured I would step away and come back to this task later.  Soooo, I decided to try a technique I had seen last Friday on my friend Patty Bennett's weekly live.  She created cards using the 4 Corner technique.  Then I had a lightbulb moment!  Why not  use the Round We Go stamp set to make cards using the 4 Corner technique! So I gave it a try and I was so excited at how the cards turned out.

You can watch my video below to see the steps for creating this fun and easy technique to make 4 quick cards.  Here are the specific measurements for the two cards I made in the video.

Card #1

  • Card base: 11" x 4 1/4" card stock scored at 5 1/2"
  • Layer #1: 5 1/4" x 4" card stock
  • Layer #2: 5" x 3 3/4" stamped card stock (1 of the 4 panels from the 4 corner sheet of card stock)

Card #2

  • Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card stock scored at 4 1/4"
  • Layer #1: 5 1/4" x 4" card stock
  • Layer #2: 5" x 3 3/4" stamped card stock (1 of the 4 panels from the 4 corner sheet of card stock)

If you want to check out the live from Patty that inspired me to create these cards using this technique you can find it here.

Garden Meadow Fun Fold

While perusing Pinterest the other day I saw a fun fold card that intrigued me so I had to learn how to make it.  It was so much fun that I decided I would share it on during my Fun Friday live on my Facebook business page yesterday.  The card is CASEd from Ginny Herrell.  The finished size of this card is small enough to fit in a note card envelope.

Here are the details needed to create this card:

  • Patterned Paper: 2 pieces 3" x 5" for arches
  • Hinges: 2 pieces of printer paper 1" x 2 3/4"
  • Card Stock for die cut pieces:  3" x 3" for sentiment & 2" x 5" for cut outs

Forever Forest & Color Combination Challenge

Well yesterday was Teach it Tuesday with Tammy & Jennie and boy did we have fun with our Color Combination challenge.  We chose three colors; Berry Burst, Copper Clay and Crushed Curry.  A perfect combination just in time for the Autumn months.  However let me tell you it was quite the challenge to come up with something with these colors because they are colors I don't typically use and would really never thought to put together before.

For a while I was stumped as to what to do, then I saw a piece of the Bright and Beautiful designer series paper.  The piece was an ombre of Berry Burst and it reminded me of a sky, so then I looked through my stamp stash and found the Forever Forest Bundle.  Things slowly came together and the final layout was exactly what I was looking for.

Below are the details including measurements and a list of all the supplies I used. If you watch the video you will find a couple of tips on how I gave the card some depth.

Details:

  • Card base: Berry Burst 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (scored at 4 1/4")
  • Layer #1: Bright and Beautiful Pattern Paper 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
  • Layer #2: Copper Clay 5 1/4" x 1 3/4" (die cut mountains)
  • Layer #3: Copper Clay 5 3/4" x 2 3/4" (die cut mountains)
  • Layer #4: Basic White  4" x 2 1/2" (for stamping trees)
  • Layer #5: Copper Clay 3 3/4" x 1 7/8" (for 3D die cut tree)
  • Layer #6: Basic White 4 1/2" x 1/2" (sentiment)
  • Interior: Basic White 4" x 5 1/4"
