Sketch Challenge - Thank You Card

One of my favorite items found in this past year's Stampin' Up Annual Catalog is the card sketches they shared with us on page 22.  They provide me with some amazing inspiration.  Sometimes I follow the sketch to the "t" and other times I use it as a springboard for ideas.  Any way you use the sketches is the best way to use the sketches.  My friend Tammy and I decided to use one of the sketches from the outgoing catalog this week for our Teach it Tuesday with Tammy and Jennie.

We chose sketch number 11 (last sketch on the top row) on page 22.  This time I followed the sketch to the "t".  I have included in the details all of the measurements for this card.  Also just to let you know both the pattern paper Take to the Sky, which is on the low inventory list, and the embellishments, Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls, will not be offered in the new catalog so if you really like them I would suggest buying them while you can. They are linked below under the "Supplies" heading.

I hope you have fun using this card sketch for inspiration!

Details for the card:

  • Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the long side
  • Layer #1: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" (use embossing folder)
  • Layer #2: 3 3/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Layer #3: Pattern paper (2) 1 1/2" x 3" and (2) 1 1/2" x 1 3/4"
  • Layer #4: 2 1/2" x 1/2" for sentiment

Fun Double Diagonal Fun Fold and Serene Love

I don't know about you but I just LOVE scouring Pinterest for new ideas for the cards I make.  I love to learn simple but fun non-standard cards, aka Fun Folds.  Today I am sharing one that I found on Pinterest the other day.  I found the tutorial by Lisa Curcio of Lisa's Stamp Studio.

In creating my cards with the fold I decided that the Serene Love pattern paper was a perfect fit. I made two cards; one card with the Lost Lagoon and the other in Night of Navy.  By the way if you love this paper as much as I do it is on the Last Chance list so grab it while you can!

Let's get started making this card!  Here are the details you need and then you can follow along with the video!  Have fun!

Details:

Card base:  8 1/2" x 11" Night of Navy
Layer #1: 5 1/4" x 4" Pattern paper (cut diagonally)
Layer #2: 5 1/4" x 4" Pattern paper (cut diagonally)
Layer #3: 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square (die cut hexagon from Memorable Blooms)
Layer #4: Fussy cut the floral arrangement of Serene Love pattern paper
Interior: 4" x 5 1/4" Basic white & 1/2" x 6" coordinating pattern paper
